History

In 1958 Harold Wallace moved on from his job at TEAL Airways (now Air New Zealand) and used expertise gained from 20 years in aircraft maintenance to rebuild engines at the newly-formed Wallace Reconditioners.

In 1974 Phil Wallace started Alloy Bearings, making bearings for Broomwade compressors in a small building located in Wellsford. From its humble beginnings the business has grown and moved four times, the most recent in Jan 2011. The present site at 22 Hood Street of just over 1000m2 accommodates our forever growing bearings team.

Stephen Wallace, son of Phil, has been the sole owner of AB Axis Company Limited T/as Alloy Bearings since 2004. Other members of the family are also involved in the business.

Location

Alloy Bearings is situated in the Northgate Business Park, 22 Hood Street, Wellsford.

Wellsford is located at the junction of State Highways 1 and 16, approximately 80km north of Auckland.

Our Alloy Bearings team work in close conjunction with our sister company AB Industries, who are specialists in leading-edge overhauls of Engines, Drivelines and Specialist Equipment.
